Falcons hang on for 3-point victory over Sac City
After several close losses, the Falcon women finally earned their first Big 8 Conference victory on Saturday night with a pulsating 71-68 win over Sacramento City at Falcon Gym. The Falcons used great ball movement and unselfish team play to build a 14 point lead by halftime, then stretched it to 18 during the third quarter before the Panthers went on a furious run in the final quarter. Angelina Contreras poured in 26 points on 6-of-12 shooting from 3-point range, while Faith Wilson added 17 points and 5 steals. The Falcons (now 1-6 in Big 8 play, 4-12 overall) will host Modesto on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
