On a night when their shots refused to fall, the FLC women's basketball team was soundly defeated by American River on Tuesday night, 73-37. The Falcons fell behind early, then rallied in the second quarter to close within five points at 26-21. But the Beavers closed out the half with a 14-0 run for a 40-21 lead at the break. With their shooting still on vacation and the taller Beavers dominating the boards (54-40), there would be no miracle second-half comeback for the Falcons. Freshman Faith Wilson recorded her first double-double as she led the home team with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Falcons (0-3 in Big 8, 3-9 overall) will look for their first Big 8 victory when they travel to south Sacramento on Thursday night to take on Cosumnes River (0-2, 0-10) at 5:30 pm.
