FLC Softball season ends with close 3-2 loss at Butte

The Folsom Lake softball season came to an end on Saturday afternoon when the Falcons lost at Butte, 3-2, in round 2 of the CCCAA state playoffs.  The #10 seeded Falcons gave the Roadrunners all they could handle, but in the end fell just short.  The two teams went scoreless through the first three innings and with Adriana Gonzalez in the circle and pitching well, the Falcons were playing with confidence.  The Falcons broke through for a run in the fourth after Lilly Alvarez led off with a double, moved to third on a fly to right, then scored on Mikaela Pamplona's RBI single.  The Roadrunners answered back in their half of the fourth with two singles sandwiched around a double to take the lead, 2-1.  The Falcons responded with the tying run in the fifth when Alvarez doubled home Olivia Dominguez, who had drawn a two-out walk.  Once again, the Roadrunners answered right back, this time with the help of a Falcon fielding error after a leadoff double to take a 3-2 lead.  Neither team would score the rest of the way as Butte hung on to advance to the Regional Finals.

The Falcons finished their season by advancing to the North Regional final eight in their first trip to the postseason.  Congratulations, Folsom Lake Softball!
