Falcons fall to Butte in series opener, 5-2

The Folsom Lake softball team, seeded #10 in the NorCal Regional, made #2 seed Butte work hard for their 5-2 win over the Falcons in their best-of-three series opener on Friday afternoon in Oroville.  The teams were tied midway through the sixth inning, 2-2, before the Roadrunners took advantage of some fielding miscues to score three runs (two unearned) in the bottom of the sixth.  The Falcons put some good swings on the ball in the seventh that resulted in a couple line drive outs and Butte took the opener, 5-2.  The Falcon offense was led by Mikaela Pamplona's fourth inning triple and Adrianna Gonzalez' sixth inning home run. Gonzalez pitched all six innings allowed just three earned runs on eight hits.

The two teams will face off in game two on Saturday at noon with a possible game three (if necessary) to follow 30 minutes later.
