Falcons sweep pair from Mendocino

A twilight doubleheader at Falcon Diamond resulted in two Falcon victories over Mendocino on Tuesday evening, 10-2 and 12-4. 

In the opener, Falcon starter Adrianna Gonzalez dominated the Eagles with a 5-inning no-hitter while allowing two unearned runs.  The Falcon offense pounded out 10 hits, led by Lilly Alvarez and Haylee Reginato with two hits apiece, including two doubles for Reginato. 

 In the nightcap, the Falcons trailed the Eagles 3-2 in the fourth before erupting for 3 runs in the fourth and 7 more in the fifth to invoke the 8-run rule.  Itzel Montoya and Taylor Eby paced the offense with three hits apiece, including three doubles by Eby.  Starter Lilly Alvarez went five innings, allowing six hits and four unearned runs.

The Falcons will miss this weekend's scheduled games against Bakersfield and Fresno City, but hope to be back in action next Tuesday at Merced.
