Pitching woes continue as Sac City thumps Falcons

Saturday's game at Sac City started out on a positive note for the Falcons, but the good vibes went away quickly.  Falcon centerfielder Bailey Pfeiler homered with two out in the first inning for the first Falcon homer of the season.  The 1-0 lead was brief, however, as Sac City took full advantage of the Falcons' lack of pitchers.  The Panthers sent 18 batters to the plate in the first inning, with 12 scoring on a smorgasbord of 9 walks, 3 singles, a hit batter, and 2 home runs – both grand slams – before the inning mercifully ended.  It should be noted that the outburst occurred against two Falcon 'pitchers' who are actually position players, but were pressed into pitching duty due to injuries.   Pfeiler would later get an RBI double in the fifth as the Falcons scored two.

The Falcons have one more weekend series left in their season; they'll play at American River on Friday and Saturday.
