Vikings hold off Falcons, 5-1

The Falcon softball team had a chance to pull out of the cellar and into a tie with their opponent, Diablo Valley, on Tuesday, but anemic hitting left them four runs short as they fell to the Vikings, 5-1 in Pleasant Hill.  The Falcons managed just three hits in the game, and their only run came in the first inning off two walks and an error.  Despite the lack of hits, the Falcons had chances to score thanks to six walks and two Viking errors, but could not produce the timely hit when needed, leaving eight runners stranded on base.

The Falcons will hope to reverse their slide on Thursday against Santa Rosa at Falcon Diamond.  The scheduled 1:00 pm start has been moved 1 ½ hours earlier (11:30 am) to try to avoid rain.  The Falcons and Bear Cubs both have just one Big 8 Conference victory so far in 2019.
