Falcons lose twice at Cosumnes River

Last Friday's deluge turned CRC's softball field into unplayable slop on Saturday, so the teams met on Monday afternoon instead.  In the opener, the Hawks grabbed an early lead with a run in the first, then steadily added to it as they built a 10-0 lead after four innings.  The Falcons put together three singles, a hit batter, and another single to score two runs in the fifth, but that was all they would get, falling 10-2 in five innings.

In the second game, freshman Tatyana Rosen put the Falcons ahead early with a long home run to left field (her team-leading fourth of the season), driving in Hope Ferri and Kelsey Liddell for a 3-0 lead.  The Hawks responded with one run in their half of the first, then added three more in the second to lead 4-3.  They broke the game open with two in the fourth and three more in the fifth.  Meanwhile, the Falcons could not add on to their run total despite getting the leadoff hitter on base in four different innings and eventually lost to the Hawks, 10-3.  Rosen finished with three hits (single, double, and homer) and three RBI, while Delana Provan had a double and a single.
