On Saturday, the Falcons opened Big 8 Conference play with a doubleheader against Delta College at Falcon Diamond. In the opener, the Mustangs shut out the Falcons on six hits as they won 6-0. Falcon starting pitcher McKenna Rickles allowed just four earned runs, but with little offensive support picked up the loss.
In the second game, Delta erupted for seven runs in the first two innings on their way to a 13-1 victory. Sara Thibaut, Kaitlyn Karmazin, and Tatyana Rosen all had two hits apiece for the Falcons, but it wasn't enough as the Mustangs pounded out 14 hits, including three homers. The Falcons' record dropped to 6-9 overall and they are 0-2 in Big 8 play.
