Falcon bats fuel comeback, but Owls prevail in season opener

The FLC women's softball team opened their 2018 season with an exciting (though disappointing) game against visiting Foothill College on Saturday at Falcon Diamond that ended in favor of the Owls, 6-5.  The Falcons banged out 9 hits, a positive sign for a team that struggled offensively in 2017.  After falling behind 4-2 in the 5th inning, the Falcons rallied for three runs - fueled by a booming Kelsey Liddell double that nearly cleared the fence - to take a 5-4 lead into the sixth.  The Owls responded with two runs of their own in the sixth, then held off a Falcon rally in the seventh to earn the tense victory.

Three Falcons had two hits apiece: sophomore centerfielder McKenna Rickles, freshman designated player Tatyana Rosen, and freshman first baseman Sara Thibaut.  Sophomore pitcher Lauren Orris pitched a solid game but came away with the loss.
