Softball narrowly loses at Sierra (3-2) to end season

The FLC softball team nearly ended the 2017 season with an improbable upset of Sierra College on Tuesday afternoon in Rocklin, but instead were edged by the Wolverines 3-2.  The Falcons fought back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score in the fifth inning as they scratched out two runs on just one hit.  But the tide turned in the bottom of the sixth when Sierra's Kaone Hunter launched her 10th home run of the season that gave the Wolverines the one run victory.  Falcon pitcher Lauren Orris had another outstanding game as she limited the vaunted Sierra offense to just two earned runs on seven hits.

With a solid core of returning players and an incoming crop of recruits, first-year head coach Jenna Alexander is already looking forward to next season.  "We've got nowhere to go but up," noted Alexander, who took over the program in October without any chance to recruit.
