The #2 state-ranked Falcons put their undefeated record on the line against also undefeated Delta College on Friday afternoon and came home with their first loss of the season by the slimmest of margins, 1-0. After a scoreless first half that saw Delta using a heavy defensive alignment, the Mustangs scored the only goal of the match on a counter attack midway through the second half. With the victory, Delta took over sole possession of first place in the Big 8 at 2-0-1 while the Falcons slipped into a tie for third place at 1-1-1. Two big home matches await the Falcons this week as American River visits on Tuesday evening and Santa Rosa plays on Friday afternoon.
