Men's Soccer Battles NVC To Tie

Hoping to get their second conference win of the season, the FLC men's soccer team battled Napa Valley to 0-0 tie in last Friday's Bay Valley Conference (BVC) match at Falcon Stadium.  Both teams had numerous chances to score, but neither one could penetrate the goal.  The Falcons' best opportunity came 20 minutes in, when a Napa Valley foul in the goal area resulted in a Folsom Lake penalty kick.  Napa's goalkeeper made a spectacular save of Gus Chima's PK to keep the score at zeroes.  Not long after, Napa had their own chance with a penalty kick, but the shot hit the post before Falcon goalie Patrick McDade corralled the rebound.  The second half again saw both teams with scoring opportunities, but neither could convert.  "We didn't play our best," noted Falcon coach Justin Johnson, "but at least we didn't allow them to score.  It was nice having Drew (Russell) back; we had certainly missed his presence."  Russell, a forward,  had missed several games due to injury.  The Falcons (3-10-1 and 1-3-1 in BVC) will now prepare for Tuesday's match at Contra Costa, currently in second place in the BVC.
