Men's Soccer Falls To Lassen

On Saturday afternoon, the FLC men took on Lassen College as part of the Cosumnes River College Showcase Tournament at CRC but came up on the wrong end of the 3-1 score.  The Falcons dug a hole for themselves early when a defensive clear-out was mis-hit and resulted in an "own goal", giving Lassen a 1-0 lead.  Lassen tallied another goal in the 22nd minute to go up 2-0, but the Falcons kept their cool and continued to play hard.  The Falcons closed it to 2-1 midway through the second half when Nick Valentine scored with a volley off a corner kick.  Lassen added their final goal when FLC was closing in on a tying goal, but a steal and a long clear set up the Cougars for their breakaway goal.

"The score doesn't indicate it, but it was definitely our most complete game so far," commented head coach Justin Johnson.  "It was nice to have Sam (Garcia) back from injury; he played the full 90."

Johnson also noted the outstanding play of outside defenders Nate Benesch and Nick Valentine.

The men host Shasta College tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon at 2:00 pm at Falcon Stadium.
