Men's Soccer Opens Season With Loss

The men displayed a patient, ball-control, team-oriented attack as they possessed the ball nearly 80% of the first half.  They accumulated 11 shots - with 8 on goal - but couldn't find the net.  Three shots rang off the post, one off the crossbar, and three were denied with great saves by the Ohlone keeper.

" I was very pleased with the effort and teamwork we displayed today," commented new Falcon head coach Justin Johnson.  "I thought Nathan Benesch and Nick Valentine really stepped up and played outstanding.  And (goalkeeper) Patrick McDade was excellent as usual."

The second half was not quite as dominant for the Falcons as they appeared to lose some of their patience and control, opting instead to push the ball when opportunities weren't there.  The result was more turnovers, which led to more opportunities for the Renegades.

With the first game jitters behind them, the men hope to notch a win today when they take on Lake Tahoe Community College at Falcon Stadium at 12 noon.
