Falcons Battle to Tie

Falcons Battle to Tie

For the second time in a week, the FLC men's soccer team kept the home crowd in suspense by trailing their opponent until late in the match, then finding a way to score a game-tying goal.  On Thursday afternoon, the Falcons and visiting Napa Valley were tied 0-0 after 45 minutes.  But in the first minute of the second half, Napa scored on a Penalty Kick to take a 1-0 lead.  That lead stood up until FLC's Drew Russell found the net with just three minutes remaining in the match.  Not satisfied with just a tie, the Falcons continued their attack and narrowly missed scoring again just before time ran out.  "We had our chances, but so did Napa," remarked coach Martin Roberts.  "We were very evenly matched, so I guess a tie is appropriate."  The Falcons start the second half of the BVC schedule hoping to improve on their 1-3-2 conference record, starting with Merritt College on Tuesday afternoon in Oakland.
