Falcon golfers capture 5th place in state championship tournament!
The Folsom Lake College men's golf team capped off their season on Monday with a fifth-place finish in the CCCAA state championship tournament at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande. Playing conditions were reminiscent of February as the golfers battled a strong wind blowing off the ocean and temperatures in the low 50's. The Falcons shot 799 for the 36-hole tournament, just five strokes behind fourth-place Riverside and 10 strokes back of the third-place trophy (Ventura at 789). The Falcons also were the highest placing NorCal team in the state tournament. College of the Canyons ran away with the title with a team score of 761, which was 24 strokes ahead of runner-up Cypress. FLC sophomore Mason Troike, the two-time Big 8 Conference MVP, ended his brilliant career at FLC with a fourth place individual finish to make the prestigious All-State Team with rounds of 72/78 (150 total). Falcon freshman Connor Gaymon shot 83/73 for 156, good enough to tie for 11th individual and his afternoon round of 73 was the fourth best round of the tournament.
