Golfers reclaim 1st place in Big 8 with 18-stroke victory
Despite having not played in a tournament in 12 days, the FLC men's golf team played one of their best rounds of the season on Monday as they cruised to an 18-stroke win at Big 8 Tournament #10. Playing in a cold wind with periods of intermittent rain, the Falcons tamed the tough Whitney Oaks course with five players scoring in the mid-seventies, including co-medalists Eric Olsem and Mason Troike leading the way at 75. "We've never shot a team score that low on that course, even in good weather," gushed FLC coach Barry Zarecky. The win moves the Falcons two points ahead of Santa Rosa in the battle for the Big 8 championship with six tournaments remaining.
