Golfers set school record team score yet finish 2nd
A Folsom Lake College record low team score of 365 was not even good enough to defeat Santa Rosa yesterday in Big 8 Tournament #8 at Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa. The BearCubs edged the Falcons by one stroke with their 364 as they pulled even in the Big 8 standings. FLC's number five golfer, Chris McKnight shot the low score for the second consecutive tournament, recording a 3-under par 69 which was just one stroke off the school record. Mason Troike rebounded from last week's disaster at Rancho Murieta to shoot an even-par 72. "There's nothing you can do but tip your hats to them," noted coach Barry Zarecky, referring to Santa Rosa. "We had our best team score ever and it wasn't enough. But I definitely like the way we are playing right now." The Falcons will try to knock off the BearCubs next Monday when they travel to Fountain Grove Golf Club in Santa Rosa for Big 8 Tournament #9, which is also NorCal Major #4.
