Falcon Golfers Take Second in Santa Rosa
Fresh off their season-opening win at the prestigious Stanford Invitational, the FLC men's golf team travelled to Santa Rosa yesterday for Big 8 conference tournament #2 against the North Division rivals Santa Rosa, American River, Sierra, and Napa Valley. Playing at Windsor Golf Club (Santa Rosa's home course), the Falcons shot a team score of 374 to finish second behind Santa Rosa's 369. Sophomore Matt Shirley rebounded from his disappointing 83 at Stanford to lead the team with a one-under-par 71. Also of note was freshman Alex Gianulias' 75, his first competitive round at the college level. "We played pretty well," noted coach Barry Zarecky. "374 is a good score, but I think Santa Rosa benefitted from the home course…as they should." The Falcons will next play at Stockton Country Club on Tuesday.
