Men's Golf Finish 2nd in Big 8 #6

With perfect weather and a challenging course, the FLC men's golf team hoped to close the 3-point gap on conference leader Santa Rosa at yesterday's Big 8 tournament #6, held at Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin. But with only two players scoring in the 70's, the Falcons did not shoot well enough to defeat Santa Rosa. Freshmen Chad Vanderdussen and Matt Shirley continued to emerge as leaders as they shot 74 and 77, respectively. As for the other Falcon golfers, the very difficult Whitney Oaks track proved to be too much. The Falcons now find themselves trailing Santa Rosa by five points in the Big 8 standings at the half-way point of the season. "There is still a long ways to go," noted Coach Barry Zarecky, "but we can't have many more disasters like we did today."
