Falcons' rally falls short against Delta

The FLC men's basketball team made a strong run at a comeback win on Tuesday night, but came up short as the Delta Mustangs prevailed at Falcon Gym, 77-62.  The Mustangs appeared to have the contest in hand as they built an 18-point lead with six minutes to play, but the Falcons cut that lead to single digits with just under three minutes to play on a series of defensive stops, flawless free throw shooting, and good teamwork.   Despite holding the opposition to just three baskets over the finall 11 minutes, the Mustang lead was too great to overcome and 9 points was as close as the Falcons could get as the visitors made 12 free throws over the final four-and-a-half minutes to hold on for the win.  Freshman point guard Jaylen Solich, finally healthy again after an injury-plagued early season, had his finest game as aFalcon, scoring 13 points and slicing through the Mustang defenders while distributing the ball to teammates.  Sophomore guard Everett Campbell led the Falcons with 15 points, but the beyond those two players, the outside shots were not falling for the Falcons.

While it was a disappointing loss, the Falcons (5-13 overall, 2-4 in Big 8) will have to shake it off before they play at Sierra (4-14, 1-5) on Friday night, where a solid effort should earn a win.
