Delaney gets Falcons back on track with 8-1 win over Modesto

A solid pitching performance and some timely hitting were two key ingredients in the Falcon's 8-1 win over Modesto on Tuesday afternoon at FLC.  Starter Carter Delaney kept the Pirates in check through seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out 9 batters for his fourth win.  The Falcon offense finally got going in the fourth inning when, trailing 1-0, Logan Sutter launched his team-leading sixth home run of the season following JT Waldon's leadoff double for a 2-1 lead.  The inning didn't end there, however, as four more Falcons would cross the plate.  The biggest blow was Waldon's second double of the inning, this time with the bases loaded that scored two.  The Falcons also added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to put the game away.  Two Falcons finished the day with three hits apiece; Waldon with two doubles and a single and two RBI, and shortstop Drake Digiorno with three singles, an RBI and a run scored.  Cole Tremain returned to lineup from the injured list with a double, a triple, and two runs scored, and Sutter finished with two hits (including his homer), two RBI, and two runs scored.

The Falcons, now 22-5-1 overall and 10-3 in the Big 8, will look to continue their winning ways at Modesto on Thursday before the series concludes on Saturday at FLC.
