Falcons hang on for wild win over Contra Costa, 12-10

Leading 7-2 after seven innings and 9-5 after eight, the Folsom Lake baseball team survived some ninth inning drama to hold off Contra Costa, 12-10, in San Pablo on Friday afternoon.  The Comets plated five runs in the ninth on just one hit and had the tying run at bat, thanks to two walks, a hit batter, three wild pitches, a passed ball, and two errors by the Falcons.  At that point, shortstop Cameron Saso came on to pitch and got the final out to earn the save.  Falcon starter Gavin Ochoa had another quality start, allowing just one earned run over six innings while striking out 8 batters to earn his third win of the season.

Offensively the Falcons collected 18 hits with five players recording multi-hit games.  Hot-hitting first baseman JT Waldon went 4-for-6 with a double, a triple, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Catcher Chase St. Armand was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored, and third baseman Logan Sutter added three hits and an RBI.  The Falcons' team batting average is a gaudy .330, currently fourth in California.
