In Saturday's opener, Falcon starter Gabe Emmett was handed a 1-0 lead thanks to Troy Shields' first inning RBI double that scored Jeff Bauser. But after allowing RBI doubles in both the third and fourth innings, he left the game trailing 2-1. The Falcon offense scored four runs in the fifth inning on Ethan Remmers' 2RBI single and a couple of bases-loaded walks. Falcon reliever Diego Maldonado shut out the Panthers over the final three innings on just one hit while striking out five batters to earn the victory.
