The Falcons won their fifth straight game on Thursday afternoon, walloping Modesto 17-2 at Falcon Field. Starter Tyler Cochran improved his record to 5-2 with seven strong innings while allowing just two runs. Sophomore centerfielder John Mook raised his team-leading batting average to a ridiculous .430 (6th highest in California) with four hits and five RBI. Over the last five games, Mook is 12 for 21 (.571) with 11 RBI and 9 walks. Third baseman Anthony Mislinski smashed his fourth home run of the season in the seventh inning – a three-run shot to left field – as he continued to swing a hot bat. All four of his home runs have come since March 23.
The win enabled the Falcons to even their Big record at 7-7 and raised their overall record to 22-8. They will finish this week's series at Modesto on Saturday (weather permitting) before shifting focus to Santa Rosa (10-4, 20-7) next week.
