Vaughn flirts with no-hitter as Falcons win easily

Folsom Lake College freshman pitcher Andrew Vaughn pitched the game of his life on Tuesday afternoon in Modesto, going 7-2/3 innings without allowing a hit as the Falcons won 11-1.   After issuing a two-out walk in the eighth inning, the tiring Vaughn was replaced by Cody Lindsey, who closed out the victory (but couldn't maintain the no-hitter).   Shortstop Josh Winkler had two hits and three RBI to lead a Falcons' offense that collected 11 hits and benefitted from 15 walks by Pirate pitching.  The win was the Falcons' fourth straight and seventh in their last eight games as they improved to 21-8 overall.  A win on Thursday would lift the team's record up to .500 in the Big 8 at 7-7.
