Falcon baseball team evens series with win at ARC

For the second straight game, the FLC baseball team got a quality outing from their starter, and this time it netted them a 9-5 victory over the Beavers on Thursday afternoon at American River College.  Sophomore Brandon Bachman survived a wobbly first inning when he gave up a walk and three singles that led to three runs, but settled down nicely after that, giving up just two more hits while shutting out the Beavers through the next five innings.  When reliever Reid Ramirez took over in the seventh, the Falcons had a 4-3 lead that grew to 9-3 with a 5-run eighth inning, highlighted by Aidan Malm's two-run triple.  The Beavers managed two eighth-inning runs, but never threatened after that.  Malm finished the game with three hits, including a double and a triple, while Carson McCusker raised his team-leading batting average to .355 with a single and a triple.  Recent hot hitter Greg Vaughn also had two hits and is 10-for-20 over his last five games while raising his batting average to .303.
