Falcons outlast Modesto in marathon game

After playing eight innings in 4+ hours at Falcon Field on Thursday night (the game was suspended due to 11:00 pm curfew), the FLC and Modesto baseball teams resumed play in the top of the ninth inning in Modesto on Saturday with the Falcons leading 17-7.  Though the Pirates loaded the bases with one out, the Falcons prevented them from scoring and earned their second win of the series.  The two teams combined for 22 walks, eight hit batters, and used 11 pitchers, which explains why they had only managed to play eight innings in over four hours on Thursday night.  Freshman Aidan Malm hit his second home run of the season as the Falcons improved to 11-15 overall and 3-8 in the Big 8 Conference.
