The Falcons faced off against Bay Valley Conference co-leader Laney College in Oakland on Tuesday with first place up for grabs but could not capitalize on the opportunity, losing 8-6 . The Falcons took an early 5-0 lead in the second inning on the strength of Greg Vaughn's bases-loaded double. The lead didn't last long, however, as the Eagles got one run back in the bottom half of the inning, then erupted for six more in the third to take a 7-5 lead that they would never relinquish. The Falcons (9-4 in BVC) now find themselves in third place, one game behind co-leaders Laney and Los Medanos (both at 9-2) with Thursday's home game against Laney looming.
