Baseball defeats Los Medanos again
The Falcons got their second straight quality start from the pitching staff as they shut out Los Medanos in Pittsburg on Thursday afternoon, 5-0. Starter Josh Moore spread out six hits over seven innings while walking just one batter. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and got a double-play ground ball to end a first- and -third threat in the third inning. Falcon right fielder Tyler Kaim put the Falcons ahead in the first with a long home run to left field. The Falcons extended their lead in the fifth on a two-out RBI double by Joey Smith, followed by a two-run single by Fuzzy Alvidrez. They tacked on one more run in the seventh on doubles by Alvidrez and catcher Mason Allen.
The Falcons evened their overall record to 7-7 while improving to 2-0 in BVC play. They are scheduled to play (weather permitting) at Falcon Field on Saturday at noon against College of Marin.
