Falcons Baseball Victorious in Season Opener, 11-4

The FLC baseball team opened their 2016 season at Falcon Field last night and came away with an 11-4 victory over Butte College.  The Falcons leaned on the strong arm of righty sophomore Andrew Schantz, who allowed just two earned runs on four hits over six strong innings of work to notch the win.  Freshman Brandon Bachman threw the final three innings and was equally effective, shutting down the Roadrunners with just one unearned run on one hit while striking out three.  Both Falcon pitchers were helped out by some outstanding defense, particularly several diving/sliding catches by right fielder Tyler Kaim, flawless fielding by shortstop Nicola Mislinski, and  a fine running catch in deep center field by Mike Majeski.  The Falcons gathered just seven hits, but combined them with eight walks and four Roadrunner errors to score 11 runs.
