Falcons Set to Face Feather River in Playoffs

Despite a lopsided 10-4 loss to Napa Valley to close out the regular season last Thursday, the FLC baseball team is the first California Community College baseball teamto reach the state playoffs in their very first season of competition.  The Falcons (22-14) will travel to Quincy to take on Feather River, champions of the Golden Valley Conference and the North's #3 seed with a record of 28-8, in a best-of-three series beginning Friday (May 1) at 2:00 pm.  Game two is Saturday at 11:00 am, and game three (if necessary) will be played Saturday afternoon.

In Thursday's loss to Napa, the Falcons actually outhit the Storm, 15-12, but three of Napa's hits were home runs.  Folsom Lake centerfielder Mike Majeski continued his torrid hitting streak as he went 5-for-5 with a double and a triple while driving in three runs to lead the Falcons' offense.  Starting pitcher Will Felton was hit hard early, allowing five earned runs (9 total) in his two innings.  From there on, the Falcon bullpen was terrific as Kendall MenardAlex PerezMatt Huddlestun, and Zach Reidallowed just one run over the final seven innings.
The Falcons wrapped up their Bay Valley Conference play with a 14-10 record, good enough for third place in the nine-team conference.
