Falcons Baseball Wins Slugfest

There was no shortage of offense on Thursday afternoon at Falcon Field as the FLC and Contra Costa baseball teams combined to score 29 runs on 34 hits, with the Falcons ultimately winning the nearly 4-hour marathon 16-13.  The 2-3-4 hitters in FLC's lineup combined for 12 hits, 9 runs scored, and 12 RBI.  Designated hitter Noah Revis-French had four hits (2 singles, a booming triple, and a 2-run home run), 5 RBI,  and was just a double shy of hitting for the cycle.  Shortstop Grant Heisinger became the first Falcon to collect five hits in a single game as he went 5-for-6 with 4 RBI.  Right fielder Tyler Kaim added two doubles - one was two feet shy of clearing the left field fence - and 3 RBI.  Six different Falcon players had multi-hit games and five had at least two RBI.  Despite the power surge, a few key defensive plays ultimately made the difference for the Falcons.  First baseman Nick Schumacher's diving stab of smash down the line saved a couple runs, and center fielder Michael Majeski ran down a couple of would-be hits as he continued to torment opposing hitters with his outstanding defense.
