Baseball Suffers First Loss

The Folsom Lake College baseball team was handed its first loss last night when they fell to Sierra College, 8-1, at Falcon Field.  The Falcons, who entered the game with a team batting average of .333, were handcuffed for six innings by Sierra starting pitcher Bryce Reichman.  The lefthander allowed just 3 hits while striking out 9 Falcon batters.

The Falcons actually took the an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when second baseman Austin Wailes hit his team-leading 3rd home run of the season over the left field fence.  Unfortunately, that was about all the offense the home team could muster as Reichman was hitting the target with his 90 mph fastball.  Sierra's bullpen took over in the 7th and was just as stingy, not allowing any hits over the final three innings.  The loss drops FLC's record to 3-1, while the Wolverines improved to 2-1.

The Falcons will hit the road tomorrow for a weekend series in Taft with games against College of the Siskiyous on Friday and Taft on Saturday.
