Falcons vs Falcons: Folsom Lake defeats Solano in 3 sets

A rare bye in the Big 8 schedule gave the Folsom Lake Falcons a chance to take on Bay Valley Conference leading Solano Falcons on Wednesday night in Fairfield, where the visiting Falcons (FLC) won in three sets, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.  Though it was recorded as a swepp, the match was much closer with Solano making the visiting Falcons work hard to win the second set.  In the third set, Solano was leading 4-2 early when they went on a 10-point run to go ahead 14-2 and appeared to be gathering momentum.  Folsom Lake responded with their own run and worked back back from the deficit, finally taking the lead for good at 20-19.  Outside hitters Caitlin Dillon and Julin Kenison fueled the comeback with well-placed kills, while Solano did their part with several service errors that allowed FLC to recover.

The Falcons (19-5 overall, 10-4 in Big 8) will host their final regular-season match on Friday night against Sacramento City, then conclude their Big 8 schedule next Tuesday at Santa Rosa.  The state playoff brackets will be announced on Wednesday, November 20, with the Falcons expecting to host a first round match on Tuesday, November 26.
