Falcons sweep past CRC

After their upset win over Big 8 leader Delta on Friday night, the Falcons were determined to not have a letdown when they hosted Cosumnes River on Wednesday night.  The extra focus paid off as the Falcons handily defeated the Hawks in three sets, 25-15, 25-15, 25-18.  The Falcons even had three starters held out of the lineup (Madi Pearce, Yasmine Sowell-Scott, and Kaitlin Bullock) with varying injuries, but still enough firepower to defeat the Hawks. Caitlin Dillon did her usual thing – pound the ball with authority every time it was set to her – and led the team in kills, while Cassie Regan got a chance to start and made her presence felt with some big-time blocks and timely kills.  Jenna Matheson also made the most of her playing time as she teamed with Julin Kenison at the net.  Saki Yamamoto had three consecutive service aces, and setter Kennedy Crawford ran the offense to perfection.

Now ranked  #5 in California – though they're 4th in the Big 8 - the Falcons (17-5 overall, 9-4 in Big 8) will play at Diablo Valley (0-21 overall, 0-13 in Big 8) on Friday night.  Their next home match (and final regular season home match) will be on Friday, November 15 when they host Sacramento City (8-17, 2-10).
