Falcons defend home court with win over Santa Rosa

The first leg of the Falcons' "FrightFest" - four matches in the final two weeks of October against teams ranked in the state top 20 – wasn't so scary after all as the Falcons defeated Santa Rosa in 4 sets on Friday night at Falcon Gym, 26-24, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21.  The Bear Cubs entered the match in a virtual tie for first place in the Big 8 with just one loss, but the Falcons (14-3 overall, 6-2 in Big 8) defended the home court and put themselves back in the thick of the Big 8 race with the win.  The next leg of the FrightFest arrives on Wednesday night when the Falcons host Big 8 co-leader (and defending state champion) American River.  The Falcons are the only team to defeat the Beavers in Big 8 play this season (in 5 sets on Sept. 20 at ARC) and the Beavers (14-6, 7-1 in Big 8) will certainly be looking for revenge.  As if that weren't enough, the Falcons will then play at Sierra (also 6-2 in Big 8) on Friday night.
