Falcons take down Sac City, 3-0

With a trio of heavyweight Big 8 matches lurking in the immediate future, the Falcons could have easily looked past Wednesday night's match at Sacramento City College.  Luckily, they stayed focused and swept the Panthers in three sets, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 to improve their Big 8 record to 5-2.   Freshman Julin Kenison led the Falcons with 11 kills and 13 digs while middle hitter Jessica Baker recorded 7 kills.  Sophomore setter Kennedy Crawford had a big all-around game with 7 kills, 9 digs, 32 assists, and 6 service aces.

With a gauntlet of one-loss teams lined up in the next week, the Falcons needed to record a win.  "It was great to see them focused on the task at hand; it would have been easy to look beyond Sac City," noted head coach Molly Hanrahan.  Upcoming for the Falcons are home matches against Santa Rosa (4-1 in Big 8) on Friday and American River (5-1 in Big 8 and fresh off a 5-set win at Big 8 leader Sierra) next Wednesday, and at Sierra (6-1 in Big 8) next Friday.  Ouch!  A winning streak during that stretch, however, could set the Falcons up for a run at the Big 8 title.  Stay tuned…..
