Falcons win Big 8 opener at ARC

The Falcons opened Big 8 Conference play on Friday night at the home of the defending state champions - American River College – and made a huge statement with a stunning 5-set victory over the Beavers, 25-18, 18-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-13.  The Beavers play volleyball matches in their small gym and the deafening noise from the spectators makes for a decided home court advantage.  Even with the ARC football team screaming in their ears, the Falcons were not intimidated!  Sophomore Caitlin Dillon and freshman Julin Kenison had too much firepower for the Beavers as they combined for 35 kills.  Dillon also had four blocks and Kenison added 19 digs, sophomore setter Kennedy Crawford again fed the offense with 51 assists, while sophomore Madi Pearce tallied 22 digs.

The Falcons improved to 7-1 overall (1-0 in Big 8 Conference) and will host defending Big 8 champion Sierra College (8-5,  1-0 in Big 8) on Wednesday evening in Falcon Gym.
