Falcons defeat Santa Rosa, await playoff pairings

The FLC women's volleyball team concluded their regular season schedule on Tuesday night with a solid 3-1 victory over Santa Rosa at Falcon Gym, 25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19.  Freshman Kennedy Crawford had another terrific game, tallying 8 kills and 20 digs to go along with her 23 assists and 3 blocks.  Caitlin Dillon looked like she has returned to form after being hobbled with a balky hamstring/groin muscle, recording 13 kills and hitting the ball with authority once again.  Middle blocker Valerie Hutton was a force at the net with 8 kills and 7 blocks, and also added two service aces for good measure.  Sophomores Olivia Turner, Deonna Robinson, and Kristen Whitney were recognized in a pre-game ceremony honoring the second-year players, along with four Bear Cub sophomores.

The victory gave the Falcons a 12-4 record in Big 8 conference play, good enough to finish in third place behind Sierra (14-2) and American River (13-3), both of whom the Falcons defeated at home this season.  The CCCAA state playoff brackets will be determined at Thursday's seeding meeting, but the Falcons would appear to have a solid chance to host an opening round match next Tuesday, November 20.
