Falcons defeat Lassen in straight sets

Despite returning just two players from 2017, the Falcons looked solid in their home opener on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Lassen College in straight sets, 25-9, 25-21, 25-3 at Falcon Gym.  Sophomore Libero Deonna Robinson got the Falcons off to a hot start with 11 consecutive service points to open the first set.  Freshman outside hitter Caitlin Dillon was nearly unstoppable as she repeatedly hit over or around the Cougars' blockers, while freshmen middle blockers Valerie Hutton and Alicia Wilson piled up blocks and kills of their own.  "We had a little letdown in the second set," noted Falcon head coach Matt Torrez, "but came back strong and finished the match off looking solid."

The Falcons will travel to Cupertino on Tuesday for a non-conference match at DeAnza before opening Big 8 Conference play on Friday against Cosumnes River at Falcon Gym.
