Irvine Valley's hitters too much for FLC volleyball team

Going up against the #1 team in California, the FLC women's volleyball team knew they would have to be at their best against undefeated Irvine Valley College in the CCCAA state championship quarter-finals at Solano College on Saturday afternoon.  The Lasers proved their ranking was worthy as they downed the feisty Falcon squad in straight sets, 25-14, 25-16, and 25-15.  The Lasers' top two attackers recorded 18 and 17 kills respectively, while the team had an impressive .304 overall hitting percentage.  For the Falcons, Analyse Stapleton led the team with 8 kills while Kate Nicknig recorded 6 kills and earned all-tournament honors.  The Falcons, in just their second season of competition, finished a remarkable 24-5 and have nothing to be ashamed of, as their loss came against the eventual state champion.  Irvine Valley defeated College of the Canyons in the semi-finals, 3-2, before taking down Delta to win the CCCAA state title, 3-1.
