Falcons defeat Butte, fall to Cabrillo

The FLC women's volleyball team hosted the first-ever Folsom Lake Classic tournament on Wednesday afternoon and earned a victory over Butte (ranked #6 in NorCal), but lost to state #1 Cabrillo.  The Falcons were impressive as they defeated Butte in 4 sets (25-20, 24-26, 25-18, and 25-20) for their sixth victory of the season.  Kylie Haverson  led the Falcon attack with 14 kills as well as 14 digs, while Kate Nicknig and Rylyn Campbell provided defensive pressure at the net with their blocks.

In the matchup of first round winners, the Falcons fell in straight sets to the SeaHawks, 25-17, 25-23, and 25-15.  The first and second sets were particularly close as the Falcons proved they could play with a top-ranked team. This time Ally Whitall led the Falcons with 10 kills while freshman Olivia Turner had 9 digs.  

The Falcons will now focus on their Big 8 Conference opener on Friday night when Diablo Valley visits FLC at 6:30 pm.
