Volleyball Stuns Sierra

While the Chicago Cubs were in the process of winning the World Series on Wednesday night, the FLC volleyball team was busy pulling off a stunning upset of Big 8 Conference leader Sierra at Falcon Gym, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 19-25, and 15-11. The Wolverines entered the match undefeated in Big 8 play at 11-0 and ranked 3rd in Northern California with a 17-3 overall record. But the Falcons weren't intimidated as they came out strong in taking the first set. The teams took turns winning sets in the see- saw match before the Falcons pulled ahead in the final. The win boosts the Falcons' record to 7-5 in Big 8 play (5th place) and 16-7 overall. The Falcons can improve their conference placing ( and post-season seeding) as two of their remaining four matches are against the two teams tied ahead of them for fourth place - Delta and American River - in the next week.
