Falcons fall to Modesto in regional playoffs
The FLC women's tennis team, having already lost 8-1 to Modesto in February, knew they'd have to play their best on Tuesday in Modesto to advance further in the regional playoffs. The 5th-seeded Falcons let a couple possible doubles wins slip from their grasp, which ultimately turned the tide in Modesto's favor as the Pirates pulled out a 5-1 victory. Anjelica Frank and Abriana Rowe were up 7-5 but eventuall lost 7-9 at #1 doubles, and Erin Cline and Laura Parkyn (#2 doubles) came from down 2-5 to tie their match at 6-6 before losing 6-8. Regan Blomquist and Nataleigh Boyle were the only doubles winners for FLC, 8-6. After three of the singles matches went to Modesto and the outcome was assured (five wins), the remaining matches were halted. The Falcons finished the season with a dual team record of 9-5 and made the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons.
