Falcons dig deep for 5-4 win
On Friday afternoon at Solano College, the FLC women's tennis team rallied from an 0-3 deficit to stun the host Solano falcons, 5-4. The FLC Falcons dug a deep hole by losing all three doubles to start the match. Down 0-3, their backs were to the wall for the six singles matches. After three straight-set victories for Abriana Rowe, Erin Cline, and Regan Blomquist, and a close loss at #1 singles, Solano held a slim 4-3 lead with two matches still playing. When sophomore Laura Parkyn took the decisive third set at #4 singles to tie the team score at 4-4, the match came down to #6 singles. FLC freshman Nataleigh Boyle was in the midst of a tense third set when all players from both teams crowded around. The resilient Solano player recovered from a 1-4 deficit to tie the score at 6-all, forcing a 7-point tie-breaker to determine the match, both individually and team. In the tie-breaker, the players split the first four points (2-2) before Nataleigh won five of the next six points to win the tie breaker 7-3 and clinch the exciting 5-4 team victory.
