Women’s Tennis suffers first loss of 2016
The Falcons were hoping to take sole possession of first place in the Big 8 Conference with a win over Santa Rosa yesterday, but instead the BearCubs emerged the victors as they edged the home team, 5-3. The match was a showdown between the top two teams in the Big 8 and lived up to the hype as the difference between the teams was the slightest of margins. The Falcons' #1 doubles team of Hannah Crookham and Sophie Taber lost their first match of the season (8-6) in dramatic fashion, having their serve broken in the final game of the set after making a comeback of their own. Had that match gone the other way – as it was so close to doing – the Falcons would have earned the team victory. Arielle and Anjelica Frank continued their winning partnership in doubles, 8-4 and Sophie Taber won a close three-set match at #2 singles after dropping the first set.
