Falcons Advance to the 3C2A Championship Game

Walnut –  Winter Radekin scored the game winner in overtime as the Falcons upset the No. 1 seeded, Chaffey College (2-1) and advance to the 3C2A State Championship game for the first time in program history.

Chaffey College was dominant in the first half of the game, accumulating 13 shots on goal to the Falcon's 1, and scoring in the 15th minute to put them up 1-0 at the end of the first half.

Halftime adjustments and unyielding Falcon determination flipped the script, and it was the Falcons who lead the second half in possession and shots on goal in the second half of this 3C2A semifinal. After being down since the 15th minute of the game, Tea Reyes tied the game in the 85th minute by beating the Panther defense and heading the ball home off an assist from Olivia Chimienti. The Falcons went on to have several dangerous scoring opportunities in the remaining final minutes of regulation but were unable to put the game away and would head into overtime tied (1-1).

In the 96th minute, Tea Reyes took a free kick just outside the penalty area and struck the crossbar, sending the ball up in the air. As the ball came down in front of the Chaffey College Goal, Winter Radekin headed the ball passed the Chaffey goalkeeper and put the Falcons up 2-1.

Despite a valiant effort from the Panthers, the Falcons did not concede a goal for the final 105 minutes of the game and after a total of 120 minutes, it was the Falcons who handed Chaffey College their second loss of the year by a final score of 2-1.

The Falcons improve to 16-3-4 and will face off against the Cypress College Chargers (19-4-2) on Sunday, December 3rd at Mt. San Antonio College at 10:00 am for the 3C2A State Championship.
