Falcons Advance to 3C2A Final Four

Clovis – For the third time in program history, the FLC Women's Soccer team will be one of two teams to represent Northern California in the 3C2A State Championship after defeating the Clovis College Crush 4-2 in a penalty shootout on Saturday.

First-year defender Andrea Hernandez led the Falcon defense in preventing the Crush from scoring through regulation and two overtime periods which then led to the Falcons and Crush heading to a penalty shootout for the second consecutive year in postseason play.

Chloe Valleau and Katy Shurson both converted their penalty kicks as the Crush also found the back of the net to keep the score tied (2-2) after two rounds. In the third round, sophomore goalkeeper Reese Clarke made a big save as Tea Reyes buried her shot to put the Falcons up 3-2. In the fourth round, Clarke, once again, made a huge save while Addisyn Barnum put the game out of reach for the Crush by converting her kick and putting the Falcons up 4-2.

The Falcons will join the Cosumnes River College Hawks as NorCal representatives in the state final four. They will head to Mt. San Antonio College to take on the two Southern California representatives, Chaffey College and Cypress College.

As the lower seeded (#6) team from NorCal, the Falcons will face off against the higher seed from the south, Chaffey College (#1) in one of two semifinal games on Friday, December 1st.
